I would like to use a X10 Chime module to monitor for a sump pump failure. The proposed arrangement would utilize a float switch wired to an X10 Powerflash module to signal the chime module. The Chime module needs to continue to sound as long as water level in the sump is too high.
The Powerflash module has three Modes;
1. Turns on all Lamp modules set to the same housecode as the Interface. Also turns on Appliance Modules set to the same house code and unit code as the Interface. When the alarm is reset, only the modules set to the same house and unit code as the Interface are turned off.
2. Flashes all Lamp modules set to the same house code as the Interface. When reset, all lights stay on.
3. Turns on Lamp and Appliance modules set to the same house code and unit code as the Interface. When reset, turns the same module off.
The problem is the Chime module is functionally an Appliance module. Therefore, the only Powerflash Mode that produces a repeated on/off signal (Mode 2) will not be recognized by the Chime module.
Is anyone aware of a method of, (a) hacking the Powerflash module to send a repeated on/off to an appliance module, or (b) hacking a Chime module to recognize a lamp on/off.
Thanks,

I think the best suggestion would be to set the PSC01 to mode 3 and connect it to a PUM01 in latching mode. The PUM01 will beep whenever it receives a signal (whenever the water is too high in the sump) replacing your chime module but giving you approximately a 90db beep.
