We are in the process of setting up a structured wire system in our Log home that is under construction (pulling wires now). Besides wholehouse audio/video distribution, security systems, Video Cam systems, network systems, and Infrared systems, we are installing a multi zone central phone system. Each room will have wall plate ports (Leviton Quickports) for 2 Cat5e, 2 RG6Quad, 1 IR port, 1 HD video port, and 2 phone Jacks. I note that the Leviton Voice Grade Quickports (phone lines) are wired with 6 wires from Cat5e cable and the jacks themselves have 6 gold conectors where you plug in the phones. However, most single line phones use a smaller 4 conector plug(or 2 wires in a 4 conector plug). Do I need to change out all the phone plugs on our single line phones(re-crimp new 6 conector plugs on the end of the 4 conector wire, to fit the 6 conector Quickport) or will the standard 4 conector phone plug fit and hold without a problem (and not cause any damage to the Quickport jack) in the 6 conector Quickport. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Regards

| A CAT5 port will hold both an RJ45 and an RJ11, without any damage to the plug or port as well as without any wiring changes for phone vs data. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. |
