Hello everyone, I am a new member to the discussion board, my name is Mark. I will be starting construction of a new house early next year and am trying to get everthing sorted for the low voltage wiring. I have an electrical engineering background, and work with industrial automation equipment, I am sure I will have many questions and hope I will be able to get some assistance here.
I currently have 2 HDTV cable boxes (one has a built in DVR), and a DVD player, what I would like to be able to do is locate both cable boxes and the DVD in a central location (wiring closet) and allow access to any components HD video signal from multiple locations through out the house.
All the video distribution components that I have found appear to be using an RF signal and a single coax, this would not allow the HD connections from the cable boxes to the TV.
Is there equipment available to do this? What options are available to distribute HDTV signals and allow the cable boxes to be remote? Do any discussion board members have experience with this type of equpiment? What problems may exist with a system like this?
I would also need an IR system to get the IR back to the central location, there seems to be several options for this, does anyone have recomendations as to aparticular manufacturer?
Is there some type of remote video switch to allow selection of each video source?
Any assistance and/or recomendations would be greatly.
Thanks,
Mark Pomfret |

This is a situation much easier handled through emails. HDTV modulation is definitely not a problem nor is the IR to control it.
Please email me with the number of locations the HDTV boxes will be feeding and let me know if any of those runs are over 150ft. When I get all the information I will take a couple of days to get you a nice PDF of the structured wiring panel and a spreadsheet with part numbers, descriptions and pricing. |

No problem you can see an example here.
If you email me the specs for your requirements I can personalize a panel for you.
