Hi
I have read so many descriptions about different security systems lately that I do not even know where to begin. So I am looking for suggestions and advice to help me through this confusion.

Current Situation:
There was an old wired system in my house when I bought it but wires have been cut or missing, windows are missing sensors and I have no key for the switch or box in the basement. I do not know if this is salvageable or where to even begin with it other than completely removing it.

So I am looking for an inexpensive quality security system as a replacement. I would like it to handle (approx 9-10) door and window sensors a few (3-4) motion sensors. Possibly a garage door sensor. I would also like a phone dialer. This system would be local non-monitored. Preferably wireless but not necessarily.
Eventually I would like to add some home automation and few cameras, but long after I have the system in place.

I am not sure if I should be contacting professional help (for the security system) but right now I am totally confused with all of the choices, options, upgrades and accessories that I may need another type professional help.
Thanks in advance

Hi Dale, I'm not sure how, but I missed this post while checking our forums.

The easiest way I can think of to facilitate your requirements would be to use the Motorola HMEZ2000, it comes with your first camera and wireless door sensor, and you can continue to add on as you feel comfortable. The HMEZ units will email you, or send text messages to a cell phone if any of the alarm triggers which you set are set off. This can be a door being opened, or motion being detected on a camera (it also takes a snapshot of the motion).

Thank you for the response. I will review the system you suggested.
I also found this system any comments?

I couldn't find it on this site, so I don't believe Smarthome carries it.

I was reading some of the reviews on Amazon.com (not very impressive)

I like the concept of this system, but some of the reviews worry me.
The limited event recording and delays also picture clarity.

Your price is great for this system, however is there a new system in the works from Motorla? or can you recommend another system that has similar features but better reviews? Even if the cost is a bit higher.

Thanks,

Dale

This is the latest system from Motorola, the HMEZ2000 is a new release.

We are also waiting to release a compatible system which will be stand alone, use IP cameras, use the existing Motorola sensors but will require an online service for monitoring.

We are looking at the lukwerks products, we may be adding them soon.
