I would like to control the 2 light dimmers (and in the future other lights) with my harmony 880 remote. What would you suggest I purchase?

Hi Bill,

I've sent you two emails, perhaps I'm in your junk folder?

In the meantime, the Harmony remote can handle X10 quite nicely, and therefor I recommend that you use the IR543 IR to X10 converter to control up to 16 devices with your Harmony remote.

I have not received any emails from you. I only got one from info@smarthomeusa.com.
Anyway, As you can tell I am new to this. I would like to eventually control many devices in my home, so I would like to be sure I am utilizing the latest technology. Can I control non x10 devices with this controller? If I eventually want to expand this what is needed to use other technologies?
To get started what exactly would I need to control 2 sets of wall dimmer switches and 2 normal wall switches? Can I buy insteon switches ?

The Harmony 880 is limited to X10 control, their 890 and RF1000 will work with Z-Wave devices and X10 devices, other then that, you would have to look to individual controllers outside of your universal remote.

Insteon is a proprietary protocol and we do not sell or support proprietary devices.

OK, thanks,, but now what options can i take, I am not going to swap out my harmony 880 remote, so if the ir543 can handle ir commands, what are my options for the switches,, do i have to stick with x10 or can i convert them from the ir543 to something else?
Can you give me some options with examples of the components so i can research them and try to understand this.
From what i understand x10 is a pain.
