| I have an Optex VX 402R wireless dual beam detector that I would like to use to alert me of anyone entering my gate. The distance is about 200 feet, so I need a compatible wireless transmitter and receiver, and an audible alert of some type. Any ideas on what would work? It will not be part of an alarm system. Thanks, Clark :?: |

Well, with the VX 402R, your optiosn would be limited to thsoe that accept a Relay Closure as a signaling method. My first thought is using UPB to send a signal over your powerlines, avoiding all the wireless range and signal interferance problems you could encounter. This would be possible using two [http://www.smarthomeusa.com/ShopByManufacturer/Simply-Automated/Item/SAUMI32W/] input/output modules. One accepts the VX 402R closure, sending a signal to the other. You could set up the receiver to control anything, even wire up your own beeper or other sounder. You may want to use an appliance module here, to switch on/off 120V which could power any noise making device.
The same sort of setup would be possible with X10, although with lowre reliability and more possible noise issues. Both setups require no wireless signals at all.
Otherwise, I can't think of a wireless solution that would work with the VX 402R directly. You may want to take a peek at our other Optex pre-made detector/sounder kits, or our Designtech driveway monitors. The designtech devices actually sense large metal objects moving, so this would be much better for detecting vehicles. If you are detecting people- try the Optex devices. |
