I live in an apartment complex, and have a detached garage. A couple times in the last few weeks, my garage door has been opened by someone other than me. I cleared out all the codes, but I still want to feel secure, because a few times I have left it open my self. I would like to use a GM-318, but I am not sure if I have to much structure between me and the garage. I am about 200' away as the crow flies, 20' up. The pic below shows where the garage is, and where I am. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately I think you will not be able to use the 318 based on distance and interference.

The better option in that environment would be the Dakota Alert Motion sensor. The range is much better and it would trip only if someone moved inside the garage. That would include the door being opened.
