Hi new to the board here. I would like to know how I can have my porch and outside lights come on simultaneously with either one flip of a switch or motion detection and have them come on only at night and turn off by themselves after a few minutes. Right now I have one porch light that is turned on by a switch by the front door and two outside lights(each side of garage door) that are turned on by a switch in the garage. At night when I go to let my dog out I have to go into the garage and flip the switch and flip the one by the front door. Very annoying.
Also, what would be the best way in doing this? I've thought about using three socket rockets(can they be used outside?) or putting X10 switches on the walls to control the all the lights at once. I also wanted to be able to control them by using a hand held remote and one of those X10 (SS13A) slimline wall switches. How can I achive this by using X10 or other home automation devices? Thanks for any help.

The easiest way would be to use an X10 transmitter like the XPT base with a faceplate which meets your needs. Each light switch would be replaced with an XPD3 or equivalant switch from X10 depending on wattage in the circuit.

The XPT is a transmitter and the faceplates allow for control of 1 to 4 lights, or up to three with bright and dim, or all on and all off control.

For more specific information on these items please give me a quick call or email me with your specific lighting requirements.

I've had extra time to draw up how the lights are setup right now. I know you probably understood me in the first post but just in case.
<---Wow they really shrunk that, sorry.

Ok. So are you saying to replace both switches with XPD3 switches? Can they be operated with montion sensor MS16A to turn on/off?
What if I wanted to turn on all the lights with just the front switch? Like if I was expecting company and wanted to leave the lights on. How would I do it then?
Also, will the motion sensor turn them off if it didn't sense motion? Thanks.

Do all of the lights work independently of each other? (garage lights vs front door lights?)

If so then I would replace the garage light switch with an XPD3 and the local light with a socket rocket or a fixture module, and use the wired transmitter mentioned in the previous post to control them.

If you want wireless control over those switches, simply add a PAT01 transceiver and a remote to your home and you can control all three lights from the front door, or from the remote, or locally. Of course the motion sensor would also work with this setup. However I would reccomend the Freewire motion detector since it has a built in timer.
