| My contractor installed an RCS X-10 bi-directional stat while installing a new two stage heat pump. It's nice to be able to adjust the setpoint remotely and the device appears to be working as intended, however, the control algorithm doesn't appear to be suited to a two stage system. It calls for first stage heat when the temp differential is 1 degree and second stage heat when the temp differential is 3 degrees. Second stage runs until the setpoint is satisfied. There doesn't appear to be a time function that calls for second stage heat after running on first stage for a certain period of time. On a cold day the system runs for hours as the temp differential slowly increases from 1 degree to 3 degrees. The 3 degree swing is too much so we find ourselves adjusting the setpoint to call the second stage sooner rather than later. Does anyone else have experience with the RCS X-10 stat? What am I missing? Thanks! |
