We are waiting for a release on the Home Genie which will send signals to your computer, let your login locally or remotely, and will send an email letting you know there is motion detected on one of your cameras.
I will notify you as soon as I have a product to show. |

If you have a broadband connection at the house? If so, you can do anything from having the PC call your cellphone when someone is at the front door to viewing/recording (and PTZ controlling) mulitple cams via host & remote PC...
What is your primary purpose a/o intent (e.g., security, surveillance, theft deterrent, indoor a/o outdoor video, no/1-way/2-way, sound, thermal/motion/alarm activated....)?
Etc., etc...

In order to provide for more concise answers, respond the Q's in my former post... Depending on your intent and budget, the quality and applications of vid cams range the gammit... How many cams do you anticipate? Is wiring the vidcams at your home still an option? Does your home already have a security system installed?
What kind of budget are you actually working with? |

I own a summer home and would like to monitor one particular outside entrance and one inside door. two cameras would be outside, the other one would be inside 3 cameras at most. quality is important, but im not looking to break the bank....anywhere from $300-600.
when you say "Is wiring the vidcams at your home still an option" what do you mean?
the home does have a security system currently.
thanks |

By wired he meant physically running a cable to a cameras as opposed to a wireless camera and receiver.
Does the home have an broadband internet connection?
(cable modem, DSL etc.) |

In consideration of your budget, your low-end option would likely be an X-10 based video system. Your more expensive system option would be to include 1-2 fixed cameras & possibly 1 (entry level) PTZ vidcam system.
You will still need to consider the following...
- camera type (image quality, B&W, color, PTZ, audio, alarms, connectivity, etc)
- sensor tech (motion, sound, IR, etc)
- video storage - (DVR, PC, VCR, etc)
- lighting (daylight, night, low lux)
- access/connectivity (broadband, telephone, cellular, dial-up, remote access, PTZ control, etc)
- notification system (contact security comp, call home, police, page, send vendor, false alarms, etc, )
- local facilities (electricity, phone, internet, server, cabling, ups/battery backup, etc)....

You can use the camera and webserver in one from Xipps, the Observer is a one user camera, viewable over the internet as long as you have a broadband connection available, and affordable.
