|
|
What we have here is a case of Legacy Equipment, otherwise known as "it came with the house and I know nothing about it."
My StreetSmart remote, after four years of faithful service, has died. (Battery replacement did not help.) After looking through the catalogs, I conclude that I have a CE2Y-LX2 somewhere in the house, attached to the Ademco Vista 10P. (I'm guessing that it's the little panel mounted just above the box where the Ademco lives.)
Two obvious questions:
1) Can a replacement remote be obtained?
2) If so, do I have to have the alarm guys come out to reprogram anything? I have next to no understanding of these contraptions: the most I've been able to do so far is replace the backup battery.
(Possible 3: I suspect this thing is going to be a bear to associate with my garage-door opener.) |

Yes, adding a new remote is quite simple with vista panels. Here is a link to the installation manual: http://www.smarthomeusa.com/Products/CE2Y-LX2/manuals/ce2y-lx.pdf
On page 14 one of the two methods will add a remote to an existing system. I seem to remember the first method is for the Vista panels.

If it is just the remote that failed the Street Smart system will remember your relay outputs for your garage door opener.
Please let me know if you have any questions. |

Looks simple enough. (However, never underestimate my capacity to overestimate my hardware prowess.)
I've got a pair of new remotes on order. |
