Hi.
I have Panasonic HD-PLC Powerline adapters, but I need to extend the range for use with an IP security camera. (I've tried using a wireless repeater, but wireless just doesn't cut it.) Any recommendations on the: (1) best solution(s) and (2) most cost-effective? Note that the Panasonic system uses its own DES encryption, so I am think that a straightforward repeater may be best....

Repeating the signals out of your HD-PLC modules may not be as straightforward as you'd like it to be.

Different "PowerLine Communication" standards use different frequencies to transfer information. A repeater for one technology (such as X10) may or may not help your HD-PLC's, unless the signal is of the same frequency.

It is usually recommended to contact the manufacturer of the PLC device you are using in regards to repeating the signal. If they do not have any products that repeat, you should ask for more information such as the frequency of the signal being transmitted. I can then cross-reference our PLC repeaters to see if any of them overlap. In such a case, we may have a solution for you. Otherwise, you may be out of luck.

Keep in mind almost all PLC technologies are not true wireless in that they use radio frequency signals. They are actually wired technologies because they use the powerlines in your home. Therefore no wireless repeating device will make a difference.
