What software are you talking about? Are you talking about the HomeSight software version 2.6.18?

To complete the uninstall you will need to run the DeleteMHSDrivers.exe file to make sure its a clean start. You can find that file in the New version download.

You have to make sure you manually point to the folder that has the drivers. If you are using the .zip archive you will need to make sure you unzip everything to a folder before you start. For some reason Windows does not automatically install the drivers and requires you to point to them manually by following the on screen instructions.

So i don't bother going through add and remove programs?I tried and it doesn't work, it goes through a install process instead of remove.Do i have to manually search for related files to delete or is there an easier way?

I've tried getting 2.6.18 to install on 3 different computers and I can't get any of them to go past the part where you plug in the unit and install the drivers. Tried it on a new Dell running Vista Home, a pc running XP Pro SP3, and a pc running XP Pro with a fresh install(no updates & no other programs on the computer). Used the install disk that Xanboo mailed me and I've also used the download from your site. And I've removed the drivers like you said, went through the registry and deleted anything that had Motorola, MHS or Homesight in it too.

I had Homesight installed with an older version that came with the unit, but couldn't get Xanboo to discover the devices so it was suggested that I upgrade to using the new disk.

Hello,

I have been able to install the HomeSIght version 2.6.18 on Windows XP home/pro, XP Media Center and Vista. When it asks you to plug in the hub and the driver installation comes up you must point the the: Program Files/Motorola homesight/Drivers folder for the driver installation to continue. If you installed a older version before this new version will not work until you completely remove the old version including drivers.

To do that you use the Windows Add/Remove to get hid of the software then you run the DeleteMHSDrivers.exe

After that you should be able to reinstall from the download from scratch and pointing to the Program Files/Motorola homesight/Drivers for the driver installation.

Well I did a virgin install with the software I downloaded from this website on two computers with the EXACT same result.. I am unable to get past the driver installation portion of the software setup.

I get this message during the driver installation.
Quote: Cannot Install this Hardware

The hardware was not installed because the wizard could not find the necessary software.

I followed the install directions to a T including pointing to the correct directory where the drivers are supposed to be located.

BOTH computers are Dell Inspiron machines one is a PIII, the other is a P4. BOTH are running Windows XP Pro SP3.

So any suggestions how I proceed???

Hello,

I will see if I could get my hands on a Dell Inspiron PC. We have tried the newest software with about 6 different computers (Xp and Vista) but none of them was a Dell PC. Other then that I do not have any other suggestions for you at this time other then point to the folder where you extracted the zip file with the drivers inside. I will look into this and see if I can find out why a Dell machine is not taking the drivers.

Was this issue ever resolved? I'm having the same issue with vista on a dell XPS machine. I followed all instructions on this thread but get error " Windows was unable to install your unknown device" "Windows could not find driver software for your device"
Any help or other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

What hub do you have? If it is the older version it may not be compatable with the new version of the software. The old hub in question has a hard-wired usb connection on the back where the new one has a separate cable.

I have only done some basic testing with one Dell XPS laptop running Vista but what I found is that the old hub will not work with Vista or the new software. If anyone can send me version 2.5.14 I can test that one as I do not have a copy in the office.

Not sure what you mean by HUB, are you referring to a USB hub? I'm not using a USB hub

The HomeSight comes in two versions one that connects via USB and one that is a standalone internet gateway.

USB:

Gateway:

The USB hub has two versions, the older one has a hardwired USB cable and the newer one has a separate cable. Some people have problems with the older hub and Vista.

I was able to finally install it by

DeleteMHMDrivers
DeleteMHSDrivers
DeleteUSB3000Drivers

Click on the compatibility tab. and selected 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' Windows XP SP2' and finally run homesight by right clicking on the black motorola homesight shortcut on the desktop and choosing 'Run as administrator'.

Now i'm running to a different issue which i started a new thread
