I wonder if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get my Russound remotes to work. I have a Sony DE197 receiver and a Sony CDP CX355 CD changer. These are hooked up to a H484 hub that feeds four zones. Three have A-LC2 local source inputs hooked up to A-KP2 keypads and one has just the A-KP2 Keypad. I also purchased two LRC1 remotes.
The system plays music great, but here are my problems:
1. Try as I might I cannot get my remotes to control either of the Sony components either directly or through the remote keypads. I have tried the codes suggested and done the code search several times with no success. Both remotes will operate the remote keypads (on/off, volume, source select).
2. I can operate the components through the keypads using the remotes that came with the Sony components, but only if I place the IR emitter a few inches from the component. These emitters appear to put out a very weak signal and the common IR does not work at all. This doesn’t seem right.
3. The system on light on the H484 does not light when the system is powered up and the “all off” button on the remote does not seem to do anything. I wonder if there is a problem with the Hub or if I am not powering it on correctly. Maybe this is why the emitters are so weak.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Since Russound does not consider SmartHome to be a dealer, they will not provide any support. |

Based on Russound's own description SmartHomeUSA is an Authorized Internet Advertiser. So you should have no issues getting through to tech support. We are not however associated in any way with SmartHome and that may in fact be the problem.
For your tech issues, I called Russound Tech Support.
For the remote issue, they reccomend a factory reset on the Russound remote. This is accomplished by inserting a paperclip into the hole which is obscured by the UNO sticker on the top of the remote. Tech Support reccomended pushing it through the sticker rather then trying to peel the sticker as the sticker will no longer stick once it has been peeled. The reset is to remove any additional layered codes which may be causing these issues.
For the 484 issue, they request you check the voltage of the power supply and confirm that it is in fact 24v. If not you might be seeing a voltage issue which would effect the power indicator as well as the IR power. If the voltage is below 24v (23.8 or so is normal) then please call me at the number below so we can immediately replace the unit. |

| Thanks, Ralph. I'll let you know how I make out. When I spoke to Russound I must not have been clear about the "USA" tag. |

| The voltage checks out at 24V and still no luck on the remote. I'll give you a call. |
