I'd like turn-on/off an outlet in my house via a PC (using RF?)

So, I'm looking for an RF transmitter that can connect to my PC (via either usb, parallel port, serial com port, nic, etc), and be able to turn on/off an outlet 20 feet away.

Ideally, I'd like to control the transmitter from my own custom software (running under linux or windows).

All I've been able to find is either DIY RF hobby boards, or massivly bundled hardware/software solutions.. nothing in between... like a clap-on, clap-off but for RF.

Anyone know if an off-the-shelf solution exists for such a (seemingly) simple request?

Hello,

We do not have any open systems that can do this, however, we do have some stand alone RF products as well as some Z-Wave software packages that can do this. The easiest way would be to use an Z-Wave appliance module with either a Stand-Alone remote or a USB stick like the HA23C. Another choice would be to ZCU101 and you can experiment with on your own getting it to work with your custom software.
