Hi Ralph,
I tried to contact you directly, but I got this error.

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 5.1.1 : Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table

DEBUG MODE

Line : 153

So here is my request. I would welcome answers from anyone else who has helpful information as well.

Hi Ralph,

I am the owner of a 3000ft2 home which is divided into 2 units. I live on the main floor and basement. The 2nd and 3rd floors are combined into one rental unit. I may, in the future, decide to move upstairs and rent out the main floor + basement. To simplify things, I will call the bottom unit Unit #1 and the top 2 floors Unit #2.
What I am looking for is a structured media enclosure which will accommodate the following:

1.. I want to have ethernet internet (as opposed to cable internet) available on all floors. I want only one internet service to come into the house at the demarcation point - I don't want a bunch of different entry points for phone or cable or internet. Just one entry point for each type of service. These services should go into the structured cable panel.
Anyways, I want to share the internet service with the tenants through a router. I don't want to actually share the internet, just the service. How to explain... I will pay for one internet service. This will get split up through a router. The tenants can use my internet, but they cannot gain access to my computer through the router. I should not be able to sneak onto their computers via my own, either. Does this make sense? They should not be able to hack into my computer even if we are sharing the same internet, because it is going through a router. They will have their own IP address which is completely separate from mine. Is this possible?

Because if sharing internet service means we are sharing all private data as well, then I will instead need to design a system with completely separate internet services for each apartment.

Of course I will wire the Unit #2 for internet through the same panel, but there will have to be some kind of component in the enclosure that separates the 2 internet services.

If I move upstairs, I want to be able to switch my internet service by simply going into the enclosure and switching 2 cat5e cables.

If I don't want the tenants using my internet, I want to be able to go to the panel and pull the plugs which connect the cables from Unit #1 internet to outlets in Unit #2. If/When I move up there, I should be able to go into the enclosure and reconnect these cables and plug my computers in upstairs with no problem.

If I want to take over the whole house and use the same internet service throughout, I should be able to do that too.

2.. I want capability to run up to 4 phone lines.

3.. I will run coax for video cable. All video cable can be connected to the same service. Do I need splitters and/or repeaters (to amplify the signal) to do this?

4.. I need to run video cameras which can be connected to the computers in the house. There should be 4 video cameras, viewable from any computer (or television?) which is connected to the panel. I have heard that I should want IP cameras.

5.. I would also like to run stereo cable to the outlets. There can be 2 stereos on each floor (1 in each unit). If you plug a stereo into a wall jack, and speakers into another wall jack in a different room, you should be able to hear the stereo on the speakers.
I am a bit behind on home theatre technology. I don't even know what I need to think about in planning out audio/video. Could you suggest something?

I have counted the rooms and I believe I need 19 outlets in total. Each outlet will have connectability for at least one of the following: coax, phone, ethernet, security cameras, and stereo. I could definitely be wrong on the numbers, and the numbers may change in the future. Can you expand later if you decide you want to make improvements? Can you add extra modules into the panel later and run the appropriate cables to them?

So I am asking for your help in planning out a system that would work for me. I hope you can tell me what size enclosure and which specific components I need to fulfill these requirements. Some of these things, I don't even know how they connect to each other - like the speakers to the computer/stereo/television, so I hope you can illustrate how to connect them together in the panel. If you recommend certain brands, please tell me which ones and if you could indicate the estimated cost of the materials, that would help as well.
