I have 4 A/V inputs to my main computer:
Turtable, Tivo, VCR and Camcorder
I also have outputs, DVD burner(internal), speakers and
stereo system.
When I look for a switchbox or source selector, that just doesn't cut it.
When I look at a structured wiring system from Leviton (Media Hub 48210) then we are talking hundreds of dollars and $79 per input !!!
I know that I can run speaker wire with RCA jacks and do this manually, but I'd like to get slightly better than that.
Ideas? |

So what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Simple (manual) or automatic switching of a/v sources at the PC, for the PC room? Throughout the house? What type(s) of controls (volume, switching, selection, etc) are you wanting ??
etc., etc...

| The goal was manual switching of A/V sources. In the meantime I did manage to connect my Tivo to my computer wirelessly, so I solved one problem. Now the question is really connecting my PC at one end of the house to my Stereo at the other end. |

Todd, for the a/v sources, consider a VDA (RCA a/o F-connectors) with audio (RCA) connectns for your traditional A/V components (e.g., TiVo, VCR, Camcoder, etc). This will allow you to switch the A/V sources.. to where-ever... If you want to distribute or combine these a/v sources you can use a channel modular or combiner...
Easist and cheapest (?) way to connect PC spks (out) to your distant stereo system is possibly wireless; Alternately, if you want High fidelity, consider wiring or other wired solutions.
BTW, if your PC has an audio Line Out (L/R), you can send your PC music (MP3s) to a remote sound system...
There are many options depending on your primary intent AND budget... My responses are quick, simple and low cost... OK?
