Hello everyone...
After sitting around the house with the kids and playing games for the whole family on a game console , my family asked me why we can't play games against each other in the house on the flat screens...We have to play 2 play split screen and the other pc's and tv's sit idle...
So I ask you -, anyone what is the best way to play against each other with the hardward configuration and equipment we have in place in our home...:
Living Room:
46" Toshiba LCD w\ New (w\ Pioneer reciever sorround)
Direct TV HD reciever
Master Bedroom:
42" Samsung LCD New
Dell PC ethernet connected to Lynksys 2 channel wirless router thru cable Modem
Wireless Keyboard\mouse and Logitec 1000 cam
Sorround sound
Direct tv HD reciever
1st bedroom:
38" LCD tv w only comonent input
IBM PC
wireless card
Direct TV HD reciever
Office:
Gateway PC
wireless card
Bedroom #2
22" Laptop
Wireless card
Direct tv wireless reciever
MOBILE
Laptop - travels around the house (also work machine)
xbox 360
PS2
Wireless net wok -all machines can see each other
None of the PC 's have gaming graphics cards.
Any ideas?
We would love to play at least simple games against each other on the larger screens instead of just 1 screen...
Thanks.

Hello,

The main problem you will find is that all your systems are designed to output onto one screen and one screen only.

I.e. your Xbox360 and PS2 only have one video output. To get multiple outputs from the one, we do have splitters. But of course that will only send the same signal to all your TVs- that won't work.

The Xbox360 can be networked to other xbox360's in a local way (called system link, or local lan), and through that connection the games will be linked together, but outputting two seperate screens. Obviously the downside here is that you will require duplicate xbox360s, from the console to the controllers to the physical game cd itself! So that might not be ideal, but it is your only solution as far as consoles go. I do not believe the PS2 can be setup in this way (but PS3 can).

For your PC's the story is a little different. You mentioned yo have standard video cards in these PCs. If you upgraded to a dual-head card (one with two seperate outputs), or installed additional video cards, you can then have two seperate video signals. But note that only some games can be "split" so that player 1's screen is on monitor 1 and player 2 on monitor 2.

These are unfortunately the only options you have that I'm aware of.
