Hi,
I would like to build a simple timed dimmer. I need a timer that will at a set time gradually for a set period of time start fading in a lightbulb.
For example - at 8am start gradually fading in a lightbulb for 30 minutes until it's fully on and stays on (until manually or automatically turned off or fade out).
Is it possible to build it? What parts I would need for it? If it can be programmed via computer even better. |

The easiest solution for your desire is to use UPB (Universal Powerline Bus)
Reason being, UPB has adjustable fade-rate dimmers. That means you can power any light bulb at less than 100% power (dimming), and also program the fade rate to be anything from 0 seconds to 8 hours.
If you set the fade-rate to be 30 minutes, it will slowly fade up from 0 over that time span. It has 255 steps of brightness so each step would not be noticable.
To do this, you need nothing but a UPB dimmer (wall switch, plug-in module, etc), and something to trigger it. The UPB Timer module will allow you to activate the fading at a certain time. Just don't program it for an off time and you will have to manually touch the switch to reset it. |

| Thank you for your reply. This solution seems rather expensive but I'll look into it. |
