Just bought a new laptop, which I suppose uses less energy than my previous one.

Now, the red light flicks on for a second, then immediately flicks off, shutting power to my automated outlets. I've increased the sensitivity as high as it will go, and it works when I plug in a lamp.

Is there anything that can be done???

Thanks!

Hello.

The problem you describe is caused by the nature of your laptops battery charging system.

The Laptop will "call" for power only when the battery needs it. Therefore the laptop appears to shut off as far as the SmartStrip is concerned. The SmartStrip is not defective.

You will see if you remove the battery from your laptop, the SmartStrip will continue to stay powered ON. This is because the laptop needs constant power from the charger since there is no battery to rely on.

Please call 631-361-3600 x2 to obtain a no-charge 3rd generation SmartStrip. The problem you mention has been addressed in these 3rd generation SmartStrips.
