| I put a remote X-10 and non dimming switches. Everything worked great. I get a call and the customer said the fan was shaking the awning. I did not hang or supply the fan. The customer turned the fan down to the medium speed and it would not turn off. I went to troublehoot and found the switch, when the remote is pushed, turns off/on. Push again, off/on. On high it works great. On low and medium off/on. Called X-10 support and they told me to buy a filter and a dimming switch. It was a wast of time and money. Did not work with the remote. Any ideas??? This is a fan with no light kit. |

Are you now using a dimming switch the fan? If so, which one? There is a special model made to control fan speeds. With that configuration, the fan's physical switch should be left on the HIGH position only. All control should be done from the switch.
What product did you originally install (part number)? Almost all relay (non-dimming) switches should have been able to control the fan without a problem.
If the relay switch was working fine locally on all fan speeds, but not remotely, you did in-fact have a noise problem to which the filter should have solved. You did not need to replace the switch with a dimmer, though.
If the fan was not working locally nor remotely, there was definitely another hidden issue, or a defective switch. A relay switch should have no problem turning on and off the fan in ANY speed mode. |

Loop feed might be the way the load is wired ... but what switch were you using (part number)?
Do you have a neutral in the switch box? |
