| I've used trillian for a long time, but yahoo, aim and msn all offer a free instant messenger. AOL owns ICQ, and I know the service for it has dropped alot. Trillian will let you run all of these messengers in one service. |

I'll second the vote for Trillian, I also use it here at work because it lets you use all services at once.
At home, I use an older version of AIM ( 4.8 ) because it is much faster to load and uses less resources than Trillian. I also use DeadAIM which is an add-on that removes all advertising and adds some advanced features. If you do go with AIM, stay away from version 5.x, it is very bulky and adds unnecessary aol email features (pretty much an AOL Lite). go to oldversions.com for any 4.x version, which will work fine. |
