I recently purchased a Channel Vision IR 5000 IR repeater to use with a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8300HD cable box. (I have Comcast service).

I have hooked everything up, get a red light and a blinking green light on the IR 5000 Hub when I use the remote to control the device but I don't get a response from the Explorer cable box. Everything works since this will turn off my Samsung LCD TV using the same method mentioned above.

My question is - Are there any compatibility issues between the two devices?

thanks,

Jeff

Hello,

You should have no problems with the IR-5000 and a Scientific Explorer 7200HD Box. The only thing you can do is make sure that the IR emitter is positioned correctly in front of the box. It is extremely rare that a port on the IR-5000 or a IR emitter goes bad. Please let me know if you still are having problems.

I am an custom electronics installer and I too have a problem with Sceintific Atlanta 8300 HD DVR receiver. I used Channel Vision IR5000 with Verizon FiOS receiver and it worked just great. SA 8300HD DVR does not respond to any commands at all. 8300HD is installed in the same location as Samsung Blu-Ray DVD player. DVD player responds to all commands from any distance but 8300HD is totally not. Not even single command. I placed sensors in front of cable receiver's IR sensor, to it's side, a little away but it never responded to single command. I happened to have another IR5000 system and swapping systems and sensors didn't help. How do I fix this issue?
