We have a small office (1100sq ft) on the 1st floor. We have 2 doors and windows in 2 rooms. We are looking for a system that at the minimum has motion detectors. We want to be notified via email/sms, NOT phone line.

The easiest way to have a basic security/monitoring system contact you via, email or SMS is to use the Home Sight system. The USB system does require a PC to run the system and the Gateway system is standalone but requires a monthly monitoring charge.

HomeSight system:

If you are looking for a true security system I would recommend the Elk-M1EZM8

This system can be used with GE wireless sensors and you can also add a Ethernet port.

This is a hybrid hardwired and wireless system where the keypads must be wired and other sensors like wireless motion detectors and door sensors.

If you can't wire for the keypads then I would recommends the HomeSight system.

For only $25 per month, the Cellular Interactive monitoring for the Simon XT: http://www.geoarm.com/ge-simon-xt-wireless-security-system-kit-80-517-3n-xt.html Is quite a steal. Log in from a computer or cellphone and arm/disarm your system, change user codes, set up text and email notifications of alarms and other events such as armings and disarmings, all through the cellular network. Included is professional alarm monitoring. Or, for only $17 per month, you can get this video system that can record video clips of any "motion" (triggered by changing pixels), and immediately notify you via text or email. You can then view the video clip from your computer or cellphone, and even view the cameras live to see if anything is still going on at your property! http://www.geoarm.com/ge-alarm-com-wireless-ip-video-surveillance-camera-adc-v510.html
